The Prince of Wales Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were present at the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the climate conference.

Royal sources have characterized Prince William's attendance at the next COP as taking on an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Connection

The climate conference will align with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the climate conference on the sixth of November.

Last week the William referred to the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a key figure at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers facing us over climate change, global temperature increases and species extinction," the King told participants.
